Kara Mann Design...
I came across this designer while browsing beautiful interiors one day and fell in love. What struck me about Kara Mann's designs, are the fact that each room has a fun quality to it. Whether its a stack of beautifully colorful artwork or a bunch of small end tables that make a huge coffee table or a skull lamp, the room is unique. Which is something I strive for as well, I cannot stand a room that's too "perfect". Somethings gotta be thrown in there to make you say, why didn't I think of that? So here are a few photos of her designs, Enjoy!

Trunk Show...
Have you ever thought of incorporating a trunk into your decor? A long time ago when I was first married, 19 years to be exact!! I was given a beautiful cedar hope chest for a wedding gift and I used that as my coffee table and loved it. Although it is not a trunk. per se, its the same idea. The size and height was great and of course provided much needed storage. I think its a neat idea to use a trunk, especially if you have an antique one that's been in the family and isn't getting any use. There is one photo here where they have used a trunk as a bar cart! Genius. The one I love is the Lucite trunk, which I think looks great with books or magazines stacked inside and a vintage Louis Vuitton trunk...to die for. Here are those photos and a couple more... Have a fabulous Thursday!

Black walls...
OMG, I love Black.... and a black wall is something I had in my last home and want to do again...I don't think I would want a whole room black because I still want lots of light but sometimes when I see these pictures it makes me rethink my decision! Definitely a whole lotta drama! In a couple cases, even the ceiling is black! Check it out...

A Chandelier In the Living Room...
Have you ever had or thought of having a chandelier in your living room? I have had one and I absolutely loved it. The problem is there usually isn't an electrical box in the ceiling in living rooms, so its rare that you are able to hang one. But if given the chance I will always hang one, its so cozy and finishes off the room nicely. Here are a few photos.....
Have a great Monday!!

Add A Little Wood To The Mix!!
I think that no matter what your space, you must incorporate some wood into the mix, and that goes for black and white interiors as well. As much as I love the black and white pallet, it seems a little stark without a few natural elements. There was a home featured in a magazine awhile back that at first glance seemed gorgeous. It was completely black and white, even the carpet was black. But it was lacking and I couldn't figure out what it was until I looked at it again a few days later and figured out there was not one wood element anywhere. I personally like the dark woods in my interiors but the lighter tones and greyed color woods work with black and white just as well. So I have pulled a few photos of black and white interiors that have some wood mixed in, whether its on the floor or in furniture so you can see what I mean. Have a great day!!

The Art Of Display...Bookcases....
My home has built in bookcases, something I have never had before but always wanted. I love to switch up my accessories and books, I am NEVER one to have a display on my coffee table, end tables, and now my bookcases for long. When you go into your favourite store, do you notice how they are always merchandising and switching things around? It brings a fresh look to the same item and I like to do that in my own home. So now that I have bookcases in my home, I thought I'd share a few tips I have learned for making them look like amazing as well!
1) What kind of backdrop do you want? The back of your bookcases can be eye popping if you like, I prefer white with a white backdrop or black with a black backdrop but its fun to see how amazing it looks with a wallpaper or contrasting paint color and it can also create more depth:

2) If you have collections this is place to display them! Group like items together so the look is tidy and that's where it will make an impact:
3) Take your books, and stack them horizontally with an item on top as well as vertically with some unique bookends:
4)Take dust covers off.. This is a less busy look and the bindings of the books are so much more beautiful than a plasticky looking cover!
5) Try something different such as this picture rail wall for books:
Or hang something directly on the bookcase:
Whatever makes your bookcase say something about you is the best way to go about decorating it, there are no fast and hard rules to this....these are just a few tips to keep in the back of your mind when doing your own :)
Have a great day!
